Artist: Vicki Dickson

Vicki Dickson has had an interest in the arts since her primary years.  When living just outside of the small rural town of Grain Valley, Missouri USA she took drawing lessons from a college graduate of the arts.  Jut at the age of 9 and walking 3 miles to and from the instroctor's house after school, she decided to call it quits.

She did not return to the arts until, as an adult, moved to New Mexico and when living in a caravan outside of Farmington, met her neighbour the well-known New Mexican artist Rod Hubble.  In his art studio, a metal building banked up against the desert hills surrounded by a neighbourhood of caravans and older homes, she studied under Rod for a short time.  Today she still has her personal works he coached along with two prized pieces of his art.

Distracted by years of motherhood and professional endeavours, Vicki did not seriously pursue her passion in art until migrating to Glenelg, SA from Saudia Arabia with her Australian husband.  She has now been in SA for almost four years and while here, has completed several workshops and courses at the Adelaide Cewntral School of Art.  Vicki has also been an active student with Splashout Studios Art in Marino Rocks, completing multiple on-day painting and drawing courses, along with weekly painting sessions.  Past exhibitions include SALA, The Victor Harbour Rotary Club, Mary Potter Hospice and Art and Soul - a four artist exhibiton.

She works primarily in acrylics and oils but explores other materials as well.  Currently she is focusing on creating visual beauty with the everyday mundane.

Vicki signs her pieces as TDC, short for Taylor Dickson Creek.  This signature is surname initials for her mother, husband and father.  It's also her pen signature for writing.
